Don’t miss this. If you can get there, even if it’s difficult or you have to travel or take off work please believe me: you need to. This is about so much more than fashion. In a lot of ways, it’s only tangentially about fashion. It’s about power and gender. The way McQueen dresses women is otherworldly - like they are from another dimension - a parallel universe where women have been the central historical figures and power brokers that men have been depicted as through history - but without dressing them LIKE men. Even the way McQueen’s mannequins are posed conveys power and invulnerability - these women are not FOR men in the way so much of fashion is.
